This is by far the quickest fried masala fish I have ever made. This is a recipe that was passed down to me from my mom so all credit is due to her, I am happy that am able to enjoy this deliciousness!
I am super excited to share the fried masala fish recipe with you all, along with a written recipe I have also filmed a video tutorial that I will insert post on my Pinterest I cannot express how easy it is to make this dish. It is a Pakistani/Indian recipe, so if you’re ever craving a south asian dish you know what to do!
Preparation Time: 15 mins
Cooking Time: 5-8 mins
- Fresh Mahi Mahi Fish
- 2 Cups of Gram Flour
- 2 Tbls of Cumin Powder
- 2 Tbls of All Bay Seasoning
- 2 Tbls of Red Chili Powder
- Salt (to taste)
- Handful Dash Garlic and Herb Seasoning
- 1 Cup of Water
- 3 Cups of Bread Crumbs
The amounts measured are for only two pieces of fish cut in to four pieces, if you are making more you can double them or put the amount according to how many pieces of fish you will be cooking.
Preparation: Before starting, you can let the fish sit in some vinegar so you can get rid of the smell. I used Mahi Mahi but you can you any other fish, I would recommend using a fish that won’t break so easily. In a mixing bowl add the gram flour, cumin powder, red chili powder, all bay seasoning, salt, garlic and herb seasoning and coriander seeds into a bowl. Add in water and mix using a handheld whisk making sure there are no lumps left in the mixture. Add the fish into the mixture andcover it in the batter, once the fish is covered in the batter put into the bread crumbs one by one.
Cooking: Pre heat the deep fryer to the 325 F and fry the fish in the there for 5-8 minutes. Allow the fish to cool off before squeeing fresh lemon over it.
Enjoy the fish with a side of green chili and coriander chutney!
